This Sewing Alterations class is designed for adults (18+) who want to build practical, confidence‑boosting skills for adjusting, repairing, and improving everyday clothing. Whether you love thrifting, wear vintage pieces, or simply want your garments to fit better, this class teaches the essential techniques needed to handle common alterations at home.

You’ll learn the foundational skills used in hemming, simple repairs, and basic fit adjustments, along with how to use a sewing machine to complete these tasks effectively. This class focuses on practical, real‑world sewing — skills you can use immediately.

You may attend once or return as often as you’d like to continue practicing and expanding your alteration abilities.

In this class, you’ll learn how to:

• Hem pants, skirts, sleeves, and dresses

• Take in elastic and non‑elastic waistbands

• Sew on buttons and reinforce closures

• Patch small holes and make basic repairs

• Adjust seams and make simple fit improvements

• Understand which alterations are beginner‑friendly vs. better left to a tailor

• Use sewing machine techniques commonly applied in alterations

You’re welcome to bring a simple garment needing a minor repair or adjustment if you’d like hands‑on guidance, but this is optional. We will also practice techniques on scrap fabric and sample materials.
