Intro to Handbuilding Ceramics in Colorado Springs

This one-day pottery class is perfect for anyone looking to explore the art of handbuilding with clay - no pottery wheel required! Whether you’re brand new to ceramics or looking to build on existing skills, this workshop offers a fun and hands-on introduction to the core techniques of handbuilt pottery.

You’ll learn how to pinch, coil, and slab-build to bring your creative ideas to life. With guidance from a professional instructor, students will explore ways to create both functional and decorative pieces.

✨ What You’ll Make:

You’ll have the opportunity to handbuild up to three clay pieces, such as:

• ☕ Mugs or cups

• 🌿 Planters or trays

• 🕯 Luminaries or lanterns

We’ll also touch on surface texture techniques, tool use, and how to shape and alter your forms to give them character.
