Botanical Horizons: Contemporary Florals & Plants

Immerse yourself in the lush, vibrant world of botanical art! In this brand-new 8-week series taught by renowned artist Erin Gillespie, students will explore the intersection of nature and contemporary art. Every two weeks, we will turn our focus to a specific botanical subject or dive into the unique style of an influential contemporary floral artist.

Using a variety of high-quality reference photos, students will learn how to translate the organic beauty of plants and flowers into stunning personal masterpieces, exploring diverse styles from bold modern abstraction to expressive realism. Whether you want to master a new technique or simply unwind creatively, this class offers a fun, supportive environment to unleash your inner artist.

🌿 This Term’s Floral & Botanic Focuses:

• Weeks 1 & 2: Introduction to modern botanical forms, capturing structure and organic silhouettes.

• Weeks 3 & 4: Exploring contemporary floral masters, focusing on bold color palettes and expressive compositions.

• Weeks 5 & 6: Dramatic & Tropical – Translating large-scale, structural foliage and vibrant exotic plants.

• Weeks 7 & 8: Delicate Wildflowers & Textures – Mastering fluid brushwork, subtle tones, and soft layering.

  
  

📋 Class Information:

• Ages: Adult (18+)

• Skill Level: All levels welcome! (Perfect for both beginners and seasoned creators).

• Mediums: Open to all painting and drawing mediums (watercolor, acrylic, oil, colored pencil, pastel, etc.).

• Supplies: Students are required to bring their own choice of painting or drawing supplies.
