Intro to Pottery Handbuilding

🎨 About the Course Discover the meditative, tactile art of handbuilding pottery! This one-day introductory workshop is perfect for anyone looking to explore clay without using the pottery wheel. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced artist seeking a new medium, you'll learn core handbuilding construction methods in an encouraging studio setting.

💡 What You'll Learn & Experience Learn how to shape clay using the three foundational handbuilding techniques: pinch pots, coiling, and slab construction. We also cover surface texturing and tool work.

🏺 What You'll Make & Create

Participants can create up to 3 custom clay pieces, such as:

  • Mugs, teacups, or small bowls

  • Planters, trays, or decorative luminaries

  • Imaginative sculptural or figurative forms

Finished pieces will be glazed and fired in our studio kiln, ready for pickup in 4–6 weeks!

📍 Studio Location & Details

  • Ages: Open to all ages 6+ (Participants under 16 must be accompanied by an attending adult).

  • Location: 🏛️ OCC Clay Studio (2708 W Colorado Ave, STE C, Colorado Springs, CO)

💳 Tuition & Investment

  • Class Fee: $75

  • Materials Fee: $15 (Includes 3 lbs of clay, tools, glazes & firings)

  • Total: $90 per person

📋 Refund Policy

Cancel online at least 7 days before your class for a full refund. Cancellations made 3 to 6 days before class receive studio credit toward any future offering. Cancellations inside the 3-day window and no-shows are not eligible for refunds or credit.
