Introduction to Portrait Painting in Water Based Oils with Natalie Becker
This is a fun, 2 part, painting workshop for artists interested in developing portraits in water based oils. It is helpful to have some drawing experience. The first, Saturday November 30th afternoon workshop will focus on key facial landmarks that help an artist successfully develop a portrait on canvas as well as important value relationships that are needed to create more life-like faces. Artists will need to bring one or two photographs of faces to class so they can develop their favorite photo into a painting.
After going over the fundamentals of portrait dimensions and value relationships during the first half of class, students can start developing their portrait paintings. On Saturday Dec 7th, part 2 of the workshop, the focus of the class will be on further developing the portrait painting that each student has started. The goal is to have a completed portrait by the end of the second three hour workshop.
Supplies will be provided which will include water based oils, brushes, and an 11″ x 14″ canvas. You just need to show up with a photo to paint!
Class size is limited to 6 students.
Cost is $55 per person plus $15 materials fee (price includes both workshops)
